The Health and Human Services (HHS) has revamped a new, consumer focused www.healthcare.gov website and a 24 hours call center (1-800-318-2596) to help individuals prepare for open enrollment for the new health insurance marketplaces starting October 1, 2013. The website will add functionality over the summer so beginning in October, consumers can create accounts, complete online applications, and shop for qualified health plans. The website will integrate social media, sharable content, and offer a web chat, that can be accessible via desktops and smart phones. The call center will provide assistance to more than 150 languages through interpretation and translator services.
