    The National Indian Health Board (NIHB) seeks an Executive Assistant who will contribute to work that impacts the health and well-being of millions of American Indian and Alaska Natives (AI/ANs). Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Executive Assistant will provide administrative and special project support to the CEO, while also serving as the administrative and operations liaison to the Board of Directors on behalf of the CEO. This hourly, full-time position is based in our Washington, DC office. Up to 15% travel is required.

  • Government Relations Administrative Support Associate

    Government Relations Administrative Support Associate

  • Policy Analyst

    The Policy Analyst reports to the Federal Relations Director. The Policy Analyst work will involve monitoring regulations and agency activity, policy, and budget analysis; Tribal Consultation; technical assistance to Tribal leaders and representatives, federal agency officials, and other policymakers through service on various federal Tribal Advisory Committees; and special projects related to health care, with a focus on those that impact AI/AN health. The ideal candidate will understand health care delivery, public health, behavioral health, the federal trust responsibility, and the legal, policy, and political frameworks impacting the Indian health care system. Additionally, an ideal candidate will have experience and expertise with Medicare, Medicaid, and CHIP programs. The Policy Analyst will also work with the rest of the Federal Relations team to develop strategies to advance other aspects of NIHB's Legislative and Policy Priorities. This full-time position is based in our Washington, DC office and requires up to 25% travel.

  • Environment and Climate Justice Grants Coordinator

    The National Indian Health Board (NIHB) seeks an experienced professional to provide technical assistance to Tribes on environmental and climate justice funding opportunities. The position will have a focus on National Indian Health Board’s Environmental Justice Thriving Communities Technical Assistance Center, connecting Tribal environmental health programs to existing funding opportunities, providing technical assistance to Tribes on federal grant applications, and elevating issues impacting Tribal environmental health. The position is full-time, salaried, and may include travel up to 20% of the time. Position base in Washington DCis preferred but not required.

  • Grants Coordinator

    The National Indian Health Board (NIHB) seeks a Grants Coordinator who will contribute to work that impacts the health and well-being of millions of American Indian and Alaska Natives (AI/ANs). Reporting to and under the general supervision of the Grants and Programs Compliance Director, the Grants Coordinator will provide support for the Grants and Programs Compliance department. This position will help identify and apply for various grants that meet the organization’s needs, supporting the grant process from application through program delivery and completion. This full-time position is based in our Washington, DC office.

  • Senior Recruiter

    The Senior Recruiter is responsible for leading full-cycle recruitment efforts for the organization. The incumbent will develop a deep understanding of the organization’s recruitment needs and establish a recruitment strategy. The role will source, recruit, and help us hire top talent that will support our organization’s growth. The ideal candidate will be a decision-maker with strong interpersonal and communication skills who is able to recognize and attract the best candidates for our roles. Reporting to the Human Resources Director, this is a full-time, salaried position, requiring less than 10% travel. While the preference is for the selected candidate to be based in Washington, DC, exceptionally qualified remote candidates will be considered.

  • Climate Health Project Coordinator

    The National Indian Health Board (NIHB) seeks an experienced public health professional to work on environmental health projects specifically related to climate change. The position will have a focus on National Indian Health Board’s Climate Ready Tribes Initiative, assisting Tribes with adaptation to the effects of climate change and elevating issues impacting Tribal climate health. The position is full-time, salaried, and may include travel up to 20% of the time. Position base in Washington, DC is preferred but not required.

  • Public Health Policy & Programs Project Coordinator (Climate & Environmental Health)

    The National Indian Health Board (NIHB) seeks an experienced public health professional to work on current and future public health projects and initiatives. The position will have a focus on creating and coordinating projects that focus on improving the state of Tribal environmental health and environmental justice and Tribal environmental health systems. The position will work on a team with an Environmental Health Program Director, Manager, Coordinators, Associates, and Interns. The Coordinator will also work with colleagues in the Public Health Policy & Programs Department and organization-wide, to coordinate and implement public health events, including the NIHB National Tribal Public Health Summit. Included in the above duties, the Coordinator will deliver technical assistance, coordinate and facilitate meetings with stakeholders, draft communications, and keep records of all project accomplishments. This position is based in Washington, DC, and requires up to 20% travel.

  • Thriving Communities Technical Assistance Center Senior Manager

    The National Indian Health Board (NIHB) seeks an experienced environmental programs professional to focus on environmental technical assistance projects. The position will have a focus on National Indian Health Board’s Environmental Justice Thriving Communities Technical Assistance Center, connecting Tribal environmental programs to existing funding opportunities, providing technical assistance to Tribes on federal grant applications related to environmental justice, and elevating issues impacting Tribal environmental health. The position is full-time, salaried, and may include travel up to 20% of the time. Position base in Washington, DC, is preferred but not required.

  • Environmental Health Project Associate

    The National Indian Health Board (NIHB) seeks an entry-level public health professional to work on environmental health projects. The position will have a focus on National Indian Health Board’s Environmental Justice Thriving Communities Technical Assistance Center, which connects Tribal environmental health programs to existing funding opportunities, provides technical assistance to Tribes on federal grant applications, and elevates issues impacting Tribal environmental health. The position is full-time, salaried, and may include travel up to 20% of the time. This position is based in Washington, DC.

Tribal Clinical Support Services Division Director
Northwest Portland Area Indian Health Board

The Clinical Support Services Division Director (Clinical Division Director) leads the Northwest Portland Area Indian Health Board's Clinical Projects Team growing of 35 public health professionals who support research, evaluation, training, technical assistance, and resource development to promote and advance Tribal clinical program health. The Division Director works closely with Tribal, urban and Indian Health Service (IHS) facilities, Tribal and community-based partners, Tribal communities, state and federal funding agencies, Indian Health Service and other federal agencies, and State Health Departments.

Behavioral Health Program Director
Northwest Portland Area Indian Health Board

NPAIHB assists the Tribes of the Pacific Northwest in delivering high-quality, patient-centered, and culturally relevant health services. We support our Tribes to build expert workforces and systems which are accountable and fiscally sustainable.

The Behavioral Health Program Director (BHPD) is a leader and central resource for Behavioral Health technical assistance, training, management, quality assurance, and supervision of the NPAIHB's Behavioral Health program, including Behavioral Health projects and services.

The BHPD must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, high emotional intelligence, and the ability to summarize complex Behavioral Health information (e.g. Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), trauma, addiction, resiliency, intervention, clinical best-practice, and policy) into culturally relevant and effective programs and services for Northwest Tribes. The BHPD will be a be a public health leader who can turn the vision, priorities, and leadership from NW Tribes into transformative programming and services.

Director of Government Affairs & Health Policy
Northwest Portland Area Indian Health Board

The Director of Government Affairs & Health Policy (Government Affairs Director) provides support to the Executive Director and the Northwest Tribes by serving as the primary resource for federal and state policy information; ensures that Northwest Tribes have the information and resources to advocate on health policy issues affecting their Tribes and citizens; ensures that federal and state government representatives are informed about Northwest Tribes health policy priorities and programs; and oversees projects to increase the number of American Indians/Alaska Natives with careers in healthcare and health policy.

The Government Affairs Director must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to take complex health policy information (legislation, regulations and other policy) and summarize the information into clear and concise policy documents for Northwest Tribes. The Government Affairs Director must also be an exceptional leader who can strategize on policy and program matters with staff to accomplish priorities. Discretion, good judgment, and ability to handle confidential information are required as this position supports policy-making efforts of Northwest Tribal Leaders.

The Government Affairs Director reports to the Executive Director. This position serves as part of the NPAIHB Management Team. This job requires extensive travel within the Northwest and to Washington, DC, and occasional travel to other locations for national meetings (approximately 60% of the time).
