WHEREAS, the National Indian Health Board (NIHB), established in 1972, serves all federally recognized American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) Tribal governments by advocating for the improvement of health care and public health delivery to AI/ANs, as well as upholding the federal government’s trust responsibility to AI/AN Tribal governments; and
WHEREAS, the unique nature of NIHB’s mission and need to strategically grow the organization requires access to funds outside of restricted grant and contractual funds; and
WHEREAS, it is prudent for NIHB to separate grant and contractual operating funds from other monies in order to help assure fiscal responsibility; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary and prudent for NIHB to have a savings account that it can utilize to house non-grant and non-contractual monies, including those generated from various fundraising efforts; and
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the National Indian Health Board will open an appropriate savings account for the organization at an area bank; and
