The National Indian Health Board is seeking dedicated community members and experts to join the Tribal Maternal and Infant Advisory Committee (TMIAC). This committee will bring together Tribal leaders, Birthworkers, youth, elders, public health professionals, and advocates to strengthen maternal and infant health efforts across Indian Country.
Members will share lived experience, cultural knowledge, and professional expertise to help guide NIHB’s maternal and infant health initiatives.
Committee Responsibilities
TMIAC members will play a role in ensuring all project activities honor Tribal sovereignty, cultural integrity, and community priorities. Committee members will:
• Advise on the design and direction of maternal and infant health programs
• Review culturally grounded tools and materials
• Identify emerging needs, challenges, and best practices in Tribal maternal and infant wellness
Time Commitment
• Approximately 20 hours total over an 8-month period (January 2026- August 2026)
• Required monthly meeting (one hour)
• Potential opportunities for additional work or extended involvement
Honorarium
Selected members will receive a $1,000 honorarium for their participation in this 8-month committee (January 1, 2026- August 31, 2026). This honorarium reflects engagement in
monthly meetings as well as the completion of associated tasks and responsibilities. This committee is limited to 12 members, and additional opportunities for participants may
arise.
