NIHB Announces Tribal Electronic Case Reporting (eCR) and Data Modernization Mentorship Program

The National Indian Health Board (NIHB) is launching the Tribal Electronic Case Reporting (eCR) and Data Modernization Mentorship Program to connect Federally Recognized Tribes and Tribal Organizations with peer-to-peer mentoring from Tribes and TECs who will provide them with technical assistance and support in their data modernization efforts, specifically adapted to each Tribe’s infrastructure and capacity needs.

 

Proposed projects under this mentorship program include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Connecting to electronic case reporting (eCR) directly through APHL’s Information Messaging System (AIMS)
  • Developing mechanisms to use transmitted eCR data to enhance public health surveillance capacity, and disease investigation efforts
  • Devising solutions to enhance existing data sharing processes and workflows between Tribal, state and local health departments
  • Developing mechanisms to use transmitted eCR data to enhance public health surveillance capacity, and disease investigation activities
  • Creating data dashboards to track public health indicators
  • Improving jurisdictional data governance policies and procedures
  • Using public health and surveillance data to conduct strategic analyses and plan for public health action
